Your beliefs shape your reality. When you believe in yourself, you unlock countless possibilities. By questioning outdated beliefs, you open the door to a fulfiling career and personal life ...

Have you ever paused to reflect on the beliefs you hold about yourself and your potential? It’s fascinating how our views can shape not only our careers, but also our entire lives. The truth is, what you believe to be possible, is possible, especially when you learn to believe in yourself.

This journey begins with an honest conversation!

You might find that some of your deepest beliefs were ingrained long ago during your formative years. Perhaps you’ve absorbed messages from those around you that suggested limits on what you could achieve, or perhaps fear crept in, convincing you that the unknown is a treacherous place. It’s time to assess whether those beliefs still serve your vision for the future.

Challenging your beliefs isn’t just a psychological exercise; it’s an audacious declaration that you desire change in your life. Ask yourself: How much money do you believe you could realistically earn? More importantly, how much do you believe you deserve to earn? The answers can be as profound as they are revealing.

Success is subjective!

It doesn’t solely hinge on a hefty salary or a prestigious title. Your definition of success may encompass freedom, balance, and personal fulfilment. Consider how much balance you think you deserve between your career and all the other important aspects of life. Embrace the idea that you can design a career that aligns with your values without sacrificing the things that matter most to you.

Our beliefs can either propel us forward or hold us back. For instance, if you’ve always thought of yourself as an introvert or an inadequate public speaker, these self-imposed limitations can hinder your progress. Recognising that you allow fear to dictate your actions opens up a whole new world of possibilities. When you learn to believe in yourself, you can recalibrate your perception and take actionable steps toward overcoming those fears.

The past may have shaped your beliefs, but it
doesn’t have to dictate your future!

Yes, there were reasons why you felt certain fears or limitations at one time, but holding on to them now only stifles your growth. In this moment, you have a chance to define what you want to believe and the life you want to create.

So, what will you choose now? Will you cling to outdated beliefs, or will you decide to believe in yourself? Perhaps the first step is reaching out to a trusted friend or colleague. Sharing your aspirations and doubts can be a transformative experience, and accountability can foster meaningful growth.

As we’ve discussed, believing in yourself is a powerful catalyst for change. You have the ability to redefine your career and life according to your vision. Embrace this present and set your intentions high. Remember, what you believe to be possible, is possible.

You just need to start believing in yourself!

Until next time ...

About Dave Cordle ...

Dave Cordle

I began my professional life training as a cartographer with the Directorate of Overseas Surveys, a department of the British government. I made maps of places such as Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Sudan and the British Virgin Islands. It was a fascinating time, being involved in planning the flights for aerial photography, interpreting the photographs and eventually producing the plates for the different layers of the final map.

It was during my latter years as a cartographer and my career in computing that I undertook bigger mountaineering expeditions to the Andes, the Himalayas, the Tien Shan and the Caucasus. At that time I also held various leadership roles in scouting. I coached and trained young people successfully leading them to develop themselves and embrace new experiences. So that’s where my passion comes from to help young people learn the strategies for success that I share with my business and career clients.

My journey in personal professional development and coaching has been amazing, and will continue to be so: it’s why I’m here, it’s my big passion. It’s what has informed my vision and mission.

However unlikely your dream might seem, if you keep taking steps towards it, even small steps, you may well just surprise yourself.
