Discover how to focus on the positive aspects of your life and career. By cultivating a mindset of gratitude, you can unlock greater fulfilment and success. Let's explore some actionable steps to shift your focus and transform your outlook ...

Focus on the task, Clear your mind and let it be, Success awaits you

Focus on the task, Clear your mind and let it be, Success awaits you

Lasting success comes from your ability to focus on the positive aspects of your life and career. When you concentrate on what you appreciate - and those things can be both big and small - you can shift your mindset and elevate your overall experience.

This journey always begins with gratitude because every morning is a new opportunity to start fresh!

Just after you wake up, take a moment to focus on three things or people you're grateful for. This simple practice sets a positive tone for the day ahead. By consciously identifying gratitude in your life, you communicate to your unconscious mind what truly matters to you. This doesn't just create a temporary uplift; it cultivates a lasting positivity that reinforces your ability to focus on the good, both personally and professionally.

Another effective technique to maintain a positive focus is to set an intention for enjoyment in everything you do throughout the day. Whether it's completing a project at work or engaging in conversations with colleagues, consciously choose to derive joy from these activities. This intention acts as a powerful reminder that even mundane tasks can be opportunities for fulfilment and success.

As the day winds down, an excellent way to reinforce your focus is to reflect on your experiences. While brushing your teeth or preparing for bed, mentally list the things you're grateful for that occurred during the day. Frame your thoughts as, “Today I'm grateful for ...” This practice not only reinforces your focus on the positive, but also helps cement these feelings into your psyche, leading to a greater overall satisfaction with life.

Consider maintaining a Gratitude Journal!

A simple exercise book can become a vital tool in your personal growth journey. Dedicate a few moments each day to jot down your three points of gratitude. Over time, you'll begin to notice a change in your outlook and emotional well-being, as well as a tangible shift in the opportunities that come your way.

Starting (or joining) a Gratitude Group can further enhance your commitment to focusing on the positives. Engage with like-minded individuals who are on a similar journey. Sharing experiences and reflections can provide valuable insights and serve as motivation to uphold your focus on gratitude even during challenging times.

The ability to focus on the positive aspects of your life and career is an invaluable skill. By incorporating gratitude into your daily routine, you create a nurturing environment for your aspirations to flourish.

Remember, what you focus on consistently expands in your life. So, embrace the good, cherish the small victories, and watch how your dedication to positivity transforms your reality. Aim to strengthen your focus on gratitude, and you may find that lasting success is within reach.

Your commitment to recognising and appreciating the great things in your life will serve as the foundation for a brilliantly fulfilling career and life.

Take charge, focus on the positive, and watch how the world around you responds.

Until next time ...

About Dave Cordle ...

Dave Cordle

I began my professional life training as a cartographer with the Directorate of Overseas Surveys, a department of the British government. I made maps of places such as Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Sudan and the British Virgin Islands. It was a fascinating time, being involved in planning the flights for aerial photography, interpreting the photographs and eventually producing the plates for the different layers of the final map.

It was during my latter years as a cartographer and my career in computing that I undertook bigger mountaineering expeditions to the Andes, the Himalayas, the Tien Shan and the Caucasus. At that time I also held various leadership roles in scouting. I coached and trained young people successfully leading them to develop themselves and embrace new experiences. So that’s where my passion comes from to help young people learn the strategies for success that I share with my business and career clients.

My journey in personal professional development and coaching has been amazing, and will continue to be so: it’s why I’m here, it’s my big passion. It’s what has informed my vision and mission.

However unlikely your dream might seem, if you keep taking steps towards it, even small steps, you may well just surprise yourself.
