Here's how the power of intention sharpens focus and momentum. You'll turn meetings, projects, and routines into deliberate wins. Try it today and measure the shift ...
Power of intention, Guiding our every action, Manifesting dreams
You already set alarms and schedules, but the real accelerator is the power of intention, because it quietly determines how you show up, how you decide what to do next, and what you notice as opportunities.
You can apply intention like a practical lens!
Start by choosing a clear outcome before the day begins and letting it shape your attention, mindset, and behaviour in small, observable ways that compound. You might start by asking yourself what you want to be quietly proud of tonight, what distraction you're willing to ignore without guilt, and what you'll execute slightly better than yesterday.
Carry the same approach into meetings by deciding how you will contribute, what you want from the agenda, and how you prefer to feel when it ends, because the power of intention gives your presence a direction rather than leaving it to chance.
You will notice that intention clarifies goal setting by forcing trade‑offs, and you'll feel your motivation stabilise because you're acting on a chosen path rather than reacting to noise.
It's relatively easy to make this concrete by defining success criteria that can be verified, such as asking one decisive question, surfacing one risk, or advancing one relationship, so the power of intention becomes measurable rather than abstract.
You may find that your energy improves when you pre-commit to what you won't do today, like checking messages during coffee breaks or intense pieces of work. This subtraction is often the cleanest way to create momentum, and the power of intention keeps that boundary intact.
You could treat difficult calls, networking coffees, and presentations as experiments by setting an intention in the moment to keep you aligned. A short debrief after to capture learning will turn everyday work into a structured loop for ongoing personal development.
If you use language that nudges your brain towards action, such as “I intend to leave with a decision”, you'll see how the power of intention upgrades vague hope into operational clarity.
You can expect compounding effects over weeks as deliberate choices shift outcomes, leading to cleaner calendars, tighter commitments, faster decisions, better conversations, and ultimately a more visible impact that advances career success without theatrics.
Keep the tone playful and experimental!
A light touch makes consistency easier, and the power of intention thrives when you adjust your approach based on honest feedback rather than forcing perfection. This practice aligns your mindset with your goals and strengthens motivation when projects extend over time. Goal-setting becomes a continuous process rather than an annual exercise.
Test this today by setting one intention for your day, one for your most important meeting, and one for the moment you close your laptop.
Notice how the power of intention subtly, but decisively, tilts the odds in your favour.

I began my professional life training as a cartographer with the Directorate of Overseas Surveys, a department of the British government. I made maps of places such as Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Sudan and the British Virgin Islands. It was a fascinating time, being involved in planning the flights for aerial photography, interpreting the photographs and eventually producing the plates for the different layers of the final map.
It was during my latter years as a cartographer and my career in computing that I undertook bigger mountaineering expeditions to the Andes, the Himalayas, the Tien Shan and the Caucasus. At that time I also held various leadership roles in scouting. I coached and trained young people successfully leading them to develop themselves and embrace new experiences. So that’s where my passion comes from to help young people learn the strategies for success that I share with my business and career clients.
My journey in personal professional development and coaching has been amazing, and will continue to be so: it’s why I’m here, it’s my big passion. It’s what has informed my vision and mission.
However unlikely your dream might seem, if you keep taking steps towards it, even small steps, you may well just surprise yourself.
